The Feast of Karazhan and STGCC

Hi friends, I am back with another Hearthstone fanart. As I talked about in my previous SotC post, I wanted to do an artwork that focused on Priest. I initially conceptualized an image poking fun at Purify. But as the Karazhan expansion finally hits it's full release, I realized that I was having a great deal of fun playing Priest! Sure, you have to be content about staying somewhere between rank 17 to 20, but the unpredictable nature of playing a reactive class like Priest is something I've never experienced before (I love to play aggro decks in the past). So I shifted gears and tried a more fun approach for this artwork.

I really like the new card Priest of the Feast and I really love the artwork for it. Food is something I want to try painting and this is a great excuse for me to paint them. It proved to be quite a challenge though and I don't think I've nailed the look of the different food materials. I shall try more in future studies/paintings.

Another struggle I had with this image was painting Anduin's face. If you watched the time lapse video, you will notice that Anduin has this silly expression on his face for quite a while during the process. Again, this painting started of with the intent of poking fun at the Priest class, but towards the end I decided to give some dignity to the class. I replaced the face with cuter, Pixar-esque cartoon features.

 In other news, I will be sharing a booth at this weekend's Singapore Toy, Game and Comic Convention (STGCC) with my friend. I will be selling badges, bookmarks, postcards and A4 and A3 size prints. Full details to come in tomorrow's post. In the meantime, do drop by if you happen to be there!
