It's been awhile but I have been working on the Schoolism assignment. As it turns out, I kinda misinterpreted the previous assignment and went off course. Regardless, I will be taking whatever I learned from the lesson and using that knowledge to apply to whatever I intend to do moving forward. Here's my second "assignment" where I include Substance Painter into the workflow.
Created a tribute piece for Stan Lee. I emphasized on the lineart to mimic the comic book illustration style.
Some progress / close-up shots:
Art trade with my student. He likes to design magazine / movie posters with his furry characters so I did a parody of Singapore's very own military magazine PIONEER with his OC. Here's a version without text:
First time trying out grayscale to gradient map workflow. Seems like a pretty time efficient method!
Doing quick sketches from the upcoming Infinity War movie. Spent about 3h on this. Which hero should I sketch next?
Love the new Jaina from the Battle for Azeroth announcement trailer. She kinda looks like Saber from Fate Stay Night.
Super excited about the expansion that's coming out this Thursday (Friday SGT). The idea of having a deathknight Jaraxxus came up after reading a thread from Reddit.
Last year I took part in the Uniqlo T-Shirt Design Competition. I chose the Mario franchise and created 2 different artwork, each with their individual style.
The first is based on the Gusty Garden Galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy. It features my favorite tune in the game. The second is the classic boss battle between Mario and his nemesis Bowser.
I didn't win (you can see the winning submissions in the URL above), but it was fun working on these pieces, especially the second one. It has been a while since I created a vector illustration.
Sorry about the sudden hiatus to my artwork submission. This few months has been filled with freelance work and preparation for my wedding. I will try to find pockets of time to do some simple artwork. But if that fails, you will still hear from me after July!
